Bertgenhütte 1846hm – Hochseiler – Berchtesgadener Alpen

Reading Time: 4 minutes

The Bertgenhütte in the Berchtesgaden Alps at Hochseiler Kalkalpen National Park

The Bertgenhütte is purely a self-catering lodge (Bivouac) on 1846hm located in Schneekar at the foot of the high Seiler. The tour is in my opinion not suitable for walkers! Lightweight craggy ground and boulders on the rise, the slip resistance required, make their way to a demanding trail. When it rains I would untrained and inexperienced people urgently ceded to use this route.

Wikipedia:

… There are always problems with avalanches and rock falls,

but it is the only place on the way with water,

so the site was maintained inevitable. …

Already in 2015 I was in Bertgenhütte since then, however, had changed place at some of the Itinerary. By considerable masses of snow that accumulate in Schneekar the path is partially pulled into the valley. The roads are still well marked and easy to spot for experienced. Who is very carefully or has bad hearing should wear a helmet after crossing the gully. In both years chamois were traveling in the wall. Most visitors of Bertgenhütte likely only the bench in front of the hut as pauses station for progression to the devil holes II + (NO ferrata) use. From there, go back to Hinzertahl or further ascend to Hochseiler / climbing over the devil holes. Of course, it comes from the devil holes from well to Matrashaus or a multi-day tour of the Duke climbing in the Stony Sea (without Farmed hut) with a further night in Wildalmkirchbiwak.  Hinterthal out there are at least 800hm to be committed, given as 3 hours. The information is easily accessible and not too tight. I myself needed after a very long train ride 12 kg bag and 31 degree temperature 25.2 hours for Bertgenhütte and am not always the fastest on the mountain.

  • The kind of accommodation cost per person amounted to Bertgenhütte to 10 € (as of 07-2017).

From my memory out I would say that there were 10 beds. But is everywhere sleeps 12. Meals must be hauled course itself. Water is available but at the Bertgenhütte directly (10m) and easily accessible. However, it looks like after a dry period, I can not say to the contrary, I have not yet read nor heard. The Bertgenhütte is a Beautiful self-catering facility in the Berchtesgaden Alps always worth a visit !!!

! The latest and most informative information on weather and trail condition, there is the landlord of the Matrashaus / Hochkönig.

The stories of the host should be read!

  • Access Hinterthal in Maria Alm (1020hm) http://www.hinterthal-info.at/.
  • Arriving by Zugaus Germany via Salzburg or Kufstein, Bayern Ticket is valid until these two places.
  • If you drive over Salzburg can there take the post bus to Saalfelden (13,50 € was 7:07:17) and then from there to Hinterthal. http://www.postbus.at/de/
  • About Kufstein is more cumbersome with the Bayern ticket in my opinion. Here it must be switched twice more. – Kufstein -Wörgl – Saalfelden –

Personally, I always use the card
